On the second day of the three-day National Tribal Literature Festival, State Level Tribal Dance Festival, organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium Science College, Raipur, the color of cultural programs was scattered. Various cultural programs were organized in the evening today. The play was staged enchantingly on Veer Narayan Singh, the first martyr of Chhattisgarh. Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam was mesmerized by the powerful performance of the theatrical stage and he also encouraged the artists by reaching the stage. On this occasion Secretary Shri D.D. Singh, Commissioner cum Director Tribal Research and Training Institute Smt. Shammi Abidi and a large number of art lovers enjoyed the cultural evening. Chhattisgarh Film and Visual Art Society Janmanch staged a live theatrical play of the first person based on the life of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh. This play has been researched, conceptualized and written by Dr. Devesh Dutt Mishra and directed by Mrs. Rachna Mishra. The play is based on Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the zamindar of Sonakhan, Chhattisgarh. How Veer Narayan Singh fights for his people in difficult circumstances and fights with the British to protect the motherland, which was well described through this play. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the first freedom fighter of Chhattisgarh, who came from the Binjhwar tribe of Chhattisgarh, was hanged to death by the British government on 10 December 1857 by hanging publicly on the foci at Jaistambh Chowk in Raipur. The entire struggle saga of Veer Narayan Singh has been presented alive through the play, unfortunately, the heroic saga of this tribal landowner, who played the bugle of rebellion against the British in India, is not read much in the pages of history. In such a situation, it is very important to make today’s generation aware of this great revolutionary through this drama. Also, through this play, an attempt was made to make an understanding about the struggle that the people of this region went through during that period. The artists of Chhattisgarh Film and Visual Art Society Janmanch gave a live performance of that first male drama through their strong acting. Kadukh dance of Surguja district was presented in the cultural evening. This dance is performed by the Urao tribe to express gratitude towards nature and to commemorate the worship of Mother Earth. This dance is performed in Karma Akhara and Sarna place of worship in the collective singing style of Karma and Sarhul dance in Kudukh dialect. Wearing peacock feathers in a white turban, this dance is performed on the occasion of Bhado month Ekadashi. After this Gedi dance of Bastar district was staged. This dance is performed by the members of the Muria tribe from the new moon of Sawan month to the full moon of Bhadon month after starting the construction of Gedi from about a month before the Navakhani festival. Muria youths dance in different postures in a round circle in the boss ki gidi. During the dance, the girls sing songs in a circle. This dance is usually performed by 18-20 male members. Gendi dance is performed on the occasion of Navakhani festival, marriage and fair-mandai. In this way Gavarsing (Gaursing) dance was staged in Dantewada district after Gedi dance. This dance is the main folk dance of the Madia tribe, which is performed after the harvest of the fair-Madai. It is done for entertainment in the village on religious festivals and births, marriages and general occasions. The members of the Madia tribe consider the Gaur Singh crown worn during the dance as a symbol of valor and courage in the Madia community. This dance is a collective dance of women and men. The Kamar marriage dance of Gariaband district was staged as the final presentation of the cultural program. was done. This dance is performed by Kamar men and women. Alcohol is also consumed on this occasion. This dance is performed with arrows, Supa and Token in hand. This dance is performed by the Kamar tribe on the occasion of marriage. Apart from this, a spectacular presentation of Dandar dance was given by the team of Bhatra tribe residing in Sukma district. The last performance in the cultural evening was performed by Sondo dance of Balrampur district. In the month of Paush, in Balrampur area of Surguja region, Cherva, Kodaku, Korwa tribes are residing in each of the villages as prescribed by women and men. Sondo dance is performed in the courtyard of the house of the religious head (priest/baiga) of the village to please the village deities. In this dance, arrows, bows etc. are used by men and women in normal costume. In this way, in today’s evening cultural program, a total of 06 tribal folk dances and drama based on Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh were staged.
