Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain has directed all the collectors to ensure that the arrangement of clean drinking water and toilets should be ensured for the children in all the schools of the district. He has expected the collectors to complete this arrangement in at least one school in all panchayats and at least one school in each ward in urban bodies before the academic session starting from June 15. In this regard, the Chief Secretary has asked the collectors to prepare an action plan and apprise them of the work done in the time-limit. Efforts are being made that separate clean toilets should be available for boys and girls in all schools and clean drinking water should be available in all schools. Under Samagra Shiksha, this work can be done easily through the funds provided by the 15th Finance Commission, Directorate of Public Instruction, other funds available in Panchayat and urban bodies and also through DMF. He has asked the collectors to ensure the arrangement of clean drinking water for the children in all the schools of the district. Similarly, arrangements for clean toilets should also be made in schools. Separate toilets should be made for boys and girls. In many places, toilets are pre-built, which can be renovated. There will also be a need for the construction of new toilets at some places. Collectors have been told that special attention should be paid to the facility of running water in toilets, proper arrangement of drainage and regular cleaning of toilets.
