Bye-elections for 117 posts of three-tier panchayat by-elections have been completed peacefully in the state. Re-polling has not happened in any of the polling stations. The counting of votes in all the polling stations has also been completed today. Polling parties have been safely returned from all 244 polling stations. It is noteworthy that in 21 districts of the state under Panchayat by-election, voting was successfully completed for 117 posts of Panch, Sarpanch and Janpad Panchayat member. Out of these, elections were held on 3 posts for district member, 62 for sarpanch and 52 for panch. An average of 69.32 percent voters exercised their franchise till 3 pm in the voting for these posts. Voters of women, differently-abled, and third community also took part in the voting with great enthusiasm. In the by-election, women with disabilities and voters of third gender community also took part in the voting with great enthusiasm. 70.75 percent male voters and 67.99 percent female voters exercised their franchise in the Panchayat by-elections held today. Highest 82.49 percent voters have cast their vote in Gariaband district. Polling was scheduled by the Election Commission from 7 am to 3 pm. The total number of voters for the three-tier panchayat by-elections in the state was 106543. These include 53393 male voters and 53147 female voters and voters of three third gender communities. It is worth noting that about 240 officers of Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, Sector Officer and Sector Magistrate have been appointed for the three-tier by-election. At the same time, 244 polling stations were set up. Around 1500 polling personnel were appointed for the smooth conduct of polling. These included 5 polling personnel in each polling station, which included one presiding officer, three polling officers and one security personnel. State Election Commissioner Mr. Thakur Ram Singh informed that the percentage of voting till 3 pm in various districts under Panchayat by-election is as follows. It is- Bilaspur-74.99 percent, Mungeli-55.54 percent, Janjgir-Champa-57.57 percent, Raigarh 72.08 percent, Balrampur-76.3 percent, Surajpur-81.51 percent, Jashpur-61.50 percent, Korea-70.33 percent, Raipur-64.88 percent, Mahasamund- 67.41 percent, Dhamtari-82.43 percent, Gariaband-82.49 percent, Balodabazar-Bhatapara-65.15 percent, Durg 69.61 percent, Balod-76.07 percent, Bemetara-68.98 percent, Rajnandgaon-79.71 percent, Kabirdham- 69.53 percent, Bastar-72.39 percent, Kondagaon. -43.63 percent and in Bijapur district 63.61 percent voters exercised their franchise.
