Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vikas Upadhyay today inaugurated a three-day state level sports, cultural and intellectual competition of Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, Kota in the capital. More than 1300 participants are taking part in this competition. There will be 16 types of sports in this sports competition. The competition has been organized for boys and girls in the age group of 14 years and above 19 years. Shri Vikas Upadhyay hoisted the flag after garlanding the image of Maa Saraswati and lighting the lamp. He duly announced the opening of the competition. On this occasion, the participants performed an attractive march past. Mayor Shri Ejaz Dhebar presided over the inauguration program. On this occasion, Secretary, Department of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Shri D.D. Singh, Commissioner Smt. Shammi Abidi, Ward Councilor Shri Prakash Jagat, teachers, coaches, coaches and players were present. While addressing the inaugural function, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vikas Upadhyay said that we should not forget the importance of sports. The importance of sports in life is essential along with education. He said that through the competition the participants get an opportunity to showcase their skills. Sports leads to physical and intellectual development. Sports not only entertain, but also improve health. If the children remain happy and healthy, then they will feel well in studies and writing. Shri Upadhyay said that all the activities for the all round development of the students have been included in this competition to be organized at the state level. He said that while talented students are ahead in sports activities in the state, their talent in cultural activities like classical dance, folk dance, singing also flourishes. Intellectual reasoning and analytical ability in children is also full of code, which is revealed through competitions like question forum, debate, essay etc. Shri Upadhyay said that after assuming the office of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, the state Sports competitions were started for the children of Eklavya schools. In the year 2019-20, the students of Eklavya Vidyalaya won a total of 34 medals in sports competitions at the national level, out of which 10 gold, 17 silver and 7 bronze medals were obtained. It is a matter of great pride. He said that in the year 2021-22, more than 15 thousand students are studying in Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools. Mayor Mr. Ejaz Dhebar while welcoming and felicitating all the players involved in the competition said that the successful players in the state level competition will get national level. You will get the opportunity to participate in the competition. He expressed hope that the players involved in this competition will bring laurels to the state and their school by performing better at the national level as well. The Mayor said that along with the intellectual development of the children, attention has also been paid to save the culture in the competition. Better results will come in the future. Encouraging the participants, he said that “when defeat happens, when it is accepted, victory comes only when it is determined”. While presenting it, it was informed that a total of 71 Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools are operating in the state, out of which 29 are in Bastar division, 21 in Surguja division, 11 in Bilaspur division, 5-5 schools in Durg and Raipur division, out of which 10 girls, 6 boys and 55 schools are there. There are co-educational schools. In these schools, studies are conducted from class 6th to 12th. 60-60 seats are sanctioned in each class. At present 15 thousand 581 students are studying. In these schools, students belonging to the tribes are given admission. The entrance test for admission is conducted at the district level. Due to Kovid-19, the competition was not organized in the year 2020-21. Prior to that, in the year 2019-20, a national sports and cultural competition was held in Bhopal-Madhya Pradesh, in which a total of 268 students participated in various disciplines from Chhattisgarh, out of which 116 students (98 boys and 18 girls) were victorious. These students had made Chhattisgarh proud by winning 16 gold, 17 silver and 7 bronze medals. This year this competition was organized at school level, district level and division level. The students selected at the divisional level have today participated in the state level competition. State level sports competition includes Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Swimming, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Archery, Karate, Wrestling, Table Tennis. Apart from this, music, dance and intellectual competition under cultural competition include instant speech, essay, debate, question stage, poster and painting competition.
