The units opening in Chhattisgarh for processing local products are opening new doors for women’s economic prosperity. On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, many units have been set up in the forest areas and remote areas to pass on the benefits of local produce to the people there. The income of the women of Maa Danteshwari Mahila Self-Help Group has also increased by joining the Kodo-Kutki processing work in village Palki of Naxal-affected Narayanpur district. In the last two years, the women of the group have earned a net income of Rs. 2 lakh 50 thousand by selling kodo kutki worth Rs. 4 lakh 50 thousand. The members of the group get an income of 8 to 10 thousand rupees per month. The women told that there are 10 women in their group. Along with training them through Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kodo, Kutki Ragi processing and packaging units were provided. For starting Kodo, Kutki ragi processing work, bank linkage of Rs. 5 lakh and circular fund of Rs. 15 thousand were given from National Rural Livelihood Scheme, Bihan, which gave them huge financial support. He told that 3 members of the group go from village to village and buy Kodo, Kutki Ragi from the farmers. After this, after processing and packaging Kodo-Kutki, they sell wholesale and chillers in the local market, shop and outside market. Wages were available on a daily basis, which was not enough for living. To meet the needs of the household, she also worked in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the village. After the start of the processing work, gradually the group started earning good income. Now his financial condition has improved as compared to earlier.
