A shocking case of medical negligence has surfaced in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. A government hospital refused to admit a pregnant woman, claiming her baby had died in the womb. The woman was then taken to a private hospital, where she delivered a healthy baby. The incident has prompted an investigation by the district administration.
Vinod Saw brought his wife, Manisha Devi, to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital in Hazaribagh after a 120-kilometer journey. However, nurses reportedly cited low hemoglobin levels and stated that the fetus had died. Despite this, Vinod took his wife to a private hospital in the district, where Manisha gave birth to a healthy baby. Vinod Saw expressed gratitude to the doctors at the private hospital for the safe delivery.
The incident has drawn the attention of the authorities. Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner, Shashi Prakash Singh, ordered an investigation into the matter on Friday, directing the Superintendent of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital to form a committee. The Deputy Commissioner stated that the primary responsibility of government hospitals is to provide better treatment at lower costs, but in this case, treatment was denied. Dr. Praveen Kumar, the owner of the private hospital, said that after admitting Manisha, several necessary tests were conducted, and the reports were satisfactory. The mother and newborn are both healthy.
