In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a disturbing incident unfolded as traffic police personnel were attacked by auto rickshaw drivers in broad daylight. The assault occurred at the Kathal More area under the Nagri police station jurisdiction. Video footage of the incident, captured by a bystander, has gone viral on social media, showing the attackers relentlessly beating the officers.
According to initial reports, three to four auto drivers were involved in the assault. They allegedly attacked the traffic police with stones, causing severe injuries to one officer. The injured officer, identified as Rohit Ganjhu, sustained a head injury and was rushed to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital in Ranchi for treatment.
The auto drivers involved in the assault fled the scene following the attack. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators and the Ranchi Traffic SP has vowed strict action against those responsible. The investigation is being led by the Nagri police station in-charge.
The viral video shows the auto drivers aggressively assaulting the traffic police officers, who are seen retaliating with batons. The video also captures the moment when one of the officers was struck by a stone and fell to the ground after the police used batons.
