Naiduniya representative. Datia. The wall of Rajgarh fort collapsed due to continuous rain in the area. 9 people got buried under the wall. The people nearby rescued 2 people safely. So far, the bodies of five people have been taken out from under the wall. All are from the same family. Two are being searched.
Those who died include Niranjan Vanskar, Mamta wife of Niranjan, Radha daughter of Niranjan, Suraj son of Niranjan, Shivam son of Niranjan from the same family. Those injured in the accident include Munna son of Khitte Vanskar and his son Akash.

People told that a very loud sound was heard around 3:30 in the morning. When we came out, we saw that the wall of the fort had collapsed. We immediately took two people out and informed the police and administration. Collector Sandeep Makin, SP Virendra Kumar Mishra, Kotwali TI Dhirendra Mishra and SDERF team reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
People present at the spot created a ruckus at around 8 am alleging that the rescue operation was going on at a slow pace. They said that carelessness was being shown in removing the debris. The debris was being removed since 4 am, but the rescue team could not rescue even a single person.
Niranjan Bansakar and his sister’s family have been trapped under the debris. It is suspected that the fort wall had weakened due to the continuous rain for the last 30 hours.
Houses collapsed in other places too
Due to continuous heavy rains, more than a dozen houses collapsed in rural areas. During this time, about twelve kutcha houses collapsed in ward number 10 of Indergarh, and the families living there were shifted to schools by Tehsildar Shilpa Singh on the spot. These families spent the night in schools. In village Chenkuri also, the house of Naresh Baghel son Jagram Baghel collapsed due to lightning. Due to which the tractor, bike kept nearby and the food items kept in the house were destroyed. Thankfully, the family members narrowly escaped. At the same time, the roof of the house of Laxminarayan son Halke Dangi collapsed in village Penta. Due to which household utensils, grains etc. got buried. Due to rain, the kutcha houses of Nirmal Kewat Penta, Chetram Ahirwar resident Bikar and Raju Sen Sadwara also collapsed.
