Naiduniya representative, Bhopal. Due to the shortage of teachers in the state, the condition of education in government schools is very bad. There are about 70 thousand vacant posts in schools. There are 1275 schools where there are no teachers. There are 6,858 schools which are running on the strength of only one teacher. They teach all the subjects to the children. In such a situation, one can easily guess what quality of education is being given here.
In the government schools of the state, teachers are transferred from one place to another every year. A list of surplus teachers is prepared and it is claimed that they will be sent to schools where there are no teachers. The situation is that while there is a shortage of teachers in government schools of some districts, there are 28,815 surplus teachers in schools in urban areas.
Due to the shortage of teachers, teaching work is not possible as per the National Education Policy. This has been revealed by the data uploaded on the education portal. 30 thousand teachers have been recruited in 5 years, but that too is not enough. In such a situation, it is difficult for the students of the state to get quality education. 1 crore 10 lakh students are studying in 1 lakh 22 thousand schools in the state.
There are no teachers even in schools of big cities
Schools in the big cities of the state are also without teachers. These include 7 schools in Bhopal, 18 in Gwalior, 16 in Indore and 15 in Jabalpur. In 43 schools of Bhopal, one teacher is teaching classes from first to fifth.

Bhopal has the highest number of surplus teachers among urban areas. The city has 1036 surplus teachers. It is followed by Gwalior- 1038, Indore- 1131, Sagar- 1145, Satna- 1094, Jabalpur- 700, Bhind- 929, Balaghat- 925, Dewas- 801, Rewa- 965, Rajgarh- 948 and Bhind- 929.
The status of teachers
Number of primary teachers- 1.40 lakh, vacant posts of primary teachers- 20 thousand, number of secondary teachers- 61 thousand, vacant posts of secondary teachers- 50 thousand
Guest teachers will get a chance
Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Secretary, School Education Department said that surplus teachers will be sent to those districts where schools are teacherless or have only one teacher. After that guest teachers will be appointed on the vacant posts.
