Rakesh Chaturvedi, Bhopal. 16 thousand private schools of Madhya Pradesh have been exempted from fees rules. The Directorate of Public Education has issued an order to this effect. Private schools charging annual fees less than 25 thousand rupees have been relieved in the order. These schools will not be required to upload fees related information on the portal. The schools charging more than 25 thousand annual fees will have to be given information by May 15. There are a total of 34,652 private schools in the state, out of which the annual fees of 16 thousand are less than 25 thousand.
In fact, under Madhya Pradesh private schools (fees and regulation of related subjects) Act-2020, it has been made mandatory to upload information about the fee structure (class and cadre) prescribed for the academic session 2025-26 on the portal. The Act also provides that schools can increase the annual fee of up to 10 percent without any prior permission. To increase this more, it will be necessary to get the permission of the concerned District Committee. This provision has been placed so that the parents do not fall unnecessary financial burden. Under the new sub -section, schools whose annual fees are less than 25 thousand rupees will be outside the purview of this Act. In addition, a committee has been constituted at the district level and at the state level for fees regulation and related subjects.
