Ravi Raikwar, Datia. The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to stop selling liquor in 17 holy (religious) places of the state, of which Datia is also. Datia has a famous goddess Pitambara Peeth Temple. Apart from this, there is a famous shrine of Jain society, Sonagir where devotees from all over the country come. The government has also decided to ban alcohol in Datia. People here are very happy with this decision but are also apprehensive whether the decision will be fully implemented or not. Because former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh has also declared Datia a holy city, yet non -veg material is sold in an area of 500 meters around the temple.
