A common concern for many smartphone users is battery life. Modern smartphones often struggle to last a full day on a single charge, a stark contrast to the days of keypad phones that could go for several days. However, there are several simple settings adjustments that can significantly extend your phone’s battery life.
One key adjustment is disabling the Always-On Display. This feature, which shows the time and notifications even when the phone is locked, consumes battery power. It can drain 1 to 2 percent of battery life per hour. To disable it, navigate to the settings menu, then go to the display or lock screen options. From there, turn off the Always-On Display toggle.
Activating Dark Mode is another effective method. Dark mode reduces the screen’s brightness, conserving battery. To enable it, go to settings, tap on display, and select dark mode within the theme options.
Adjusting screen brightness and sleep time also helps. Keep the brightness at a medium level or set it to auto. Reduce the sleep time (the duration before the screen turns off automatically) to a shorter interval, such as 15 to 30 seconds.
Utilizing the Adaptive Battery mode, available on Android phones, optimizes performance to conserve battery. To enable this, go to settings, tap on battery, and turn on Adaptive Battery in the adaptive preference section.
Lastly, using Battery Saver Mode helps to control background apps and balance phone performance to prolong battery life. Some smartphones offer an ‘Extreme Battery Saver’ option within the settings.
