85 Capital Goods for Lithium‑Ion Cell Production Get Reduced Customs Rates

The third notification expands the list of capital goods eligible for concessional customs duty to 85 items that are used in lithium‑ion cell manufacturing.

The revised schedule covers coating machines, winding machines, welding systems, testing equipment, formation machines, drawing systems and several specialised tools required in the battery cell production line.

By lowering the tariff burden on these machines, the government expects to cut overall production costs, boost the competitiveness of Indian battery manufacturers and accelerate value addition in the electric‑vehicle ecosystem.
