Adani Airport Platform Boosts Expansion with $1bn Capital Raise
Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) has secured a $1 billion primary equity injection, equivalent to ₹9,825 crore, from an overseas investor consortium. The capital, managed by Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock, values the company at $18 billion. AAHL’s CEO Arun Bansal reaffirmed the firm’s ambition to build the world’s largest integrated airport platform, citing strong growth prospects in India’s aviation sector and rising consumer spending power. The new funds will be deployed to widen runway capacity, upgrade terminal facilities, and fast‑track the development of the Adani Airport City – a mixed‑use complex that will initially span 22 million square feet. By expanding non‑aeronautical services such as ground handling and retail, AAHL expects to lift its annual passenger handling capacity by 20 million, generate higher commercial yields and deliver a superior travel experience across its eight‑airport network, which accounts for over 23 percent of national traffic.
