Airtel has implemented changes affecting its prepaid users. Following the discontinuation of the Rs 249 plan, the company has reduced the data limit in its Rs 195 recharge plan. This plan is popular among users who purchase additional data vouchers after exhausting their existing plan’s data allowance. Previously, this plan offered 15GB of high-speed data, but now it provides only 12GB. Furthermore, the plan’s Jio Hotstar OTT benefit, initially available for 90 days, has been reduced to 30 days. This adjustment makes the plan less appealing to users, but it aligns with Airtel’s strategy to increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). At the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, Airtel’s ARPU was Rs 250, with a target of Rs 300, a goal that is intended to be met without increasing tariffs.
