Anant Ambani on Jio's Market Debut, Digital India and Nation Building
Mumbai, October 28: Anant Ambani on Wednesday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India vision with giving Jio's journey a clear purpose, as Jio Platforms was listed on the stock exchange.
At the listing event, he said Reliance is grateful for the Digital India vision and for the Prime Minister's continuous guidance and support.
'We extend our profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,' Anant Ambani said. 'It was his Digital India vision that gave Jio its purpose, and we have continued to receive his guidance and support.'
He also showed respect toward the Prime Minister and said the group would continue to play a significant role in bringing the Viksit Bharat vision to life.
The statement recalls the position Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, took at the launch of Jio in 2016. Mukesh Ambani had then dedicated Jio's services to the Digital India initiative, highlighting a mission to bring affordable digital connectivity to millions of Indians.
Anant Ambani called the listing an opportunity to thank the crores of Indians who have trusted Jio since its launch. He said the milestone belongs to them.
Using a spiritual analogy, he described the ringing of the stock exchange bell as similar to a temple bell. He said business is also a form of worship, and every worship ends with prasad that is distributed to everyone. 'Today, Jio is being shared with all of India,' he said.
He also paid tribute to the company's legacy, recalling the dreams of Dhirubhai Ambani and the vision that Mukesh Ambani carried forward. Mukesh Ambani had imagined an India without boundaries, he said, while Dhirubhai Ambani proved that ordinary Indians could achieve exceptional goals.
Speaking to customers and shareholders, Anant Ambani said Jio was built by the people of India and that meeting their aspirations remains the company's core objective.
