Google has confirmed the official release of Android 16 today, June 10, following months of beta testing and early previews. The announcement came via the official Android Developers account on X (formerly Twitter), generating anticipation for the rollout. While the exact release time remains unconfirmed, it is expected to align with Mountain View’s time zone.
Pixel smartphones will be the first to receive the stable update, including Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8, 8a, 8 Pro, 9, 9 Pro, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The update also includes features for users who don’t own the latest devices, as part of the June 2025 Feature Drop, and updates for the Pixel Watch lineup.
Though the Material 3 Expressive design system will arrive later this year with the QPR1 update, today’s build introduces Live Updates for tracking deliveries and ETAs on the lock screen, a Quick Settings refresh, and an Advanced Protection mode. Users are encouraged to charge their devices and await the OTA update.
