Arunachal Pradesh Poised for Export Surge After Nine Trade Accords

Speaking on a video shared on X, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said the nine new trade agreements finalized under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will provide Arunachal Pradesh’s farmers, metal fabricators and producers a straight line to international markets.

The agreements include partnerships with the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the European Free Trade Association, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Mauritius and Oman. Goyal emphasized that agricultural commodities and processed food items will now have access to larger, higher‑value markets, potentially lifting the state’s export figures.

Base‑metal exporters are set to gain a competitive edge, and the manufacturing sector will benefit from lower customs duties and expanded export routes. Items such as automotive components and brake linings, which have been largely domestic, can now enter overseas supply chains.

The minister added that the state’s eco‑tourism sector will also reap benefits, as stronger global trade ties raise the region’s profile among foreign travelers. He assured that the initiatives will translate into more jobs, higher incomes and increased investment, positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a vital engine in India’s drive toward a developed nation.
