Switching even a fraction of India’s millions of petrol and diesel cars to auto‑LPG would markedly lower particulate matter, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. IAC director Suyash Gupta notes that LPG costs about 40‑45% less per kilometre than petrol and reduces key pollutants by up to 50%. The conversion expense, around INR 30,000, is also far lower than the multi‑lakh price tag of an electric vehicle.
