BRICS expansion broadens reach across four continents under Indian leadership

New Delhi, September 10 – From a modest four‑nation alliance, BRICS has grown into a formidable coalition spanning Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. The latest expansion added Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with Indonesia joining in 2025. India’s 2026 chairmanship arrives as the bloc accounts for 49.5% of the world’s population and 40% of global GDP.
