BSNL, the state-owned telecom company, has introduced the ‘Azadi ka Plan’ ahead of Independence Day, aiming to challenge private players like Jio, Vi, and Airtel. This plan is priced at just Rs. 1 and offers data, calling, SMS, and a free SIM. This new plan could be appealing to those wanting to experience BSNL services.
On X, the company announced the plan, stating, ‘Azadi ka plan at just Rs. 1 & get true digital freedom with BSNL.’ Let’s delve into the benefits of this Rs. 1 plan.
The Rs. 1 plan provides 2GB of high-speed data daily, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day. This plan is valid for 30 days, but this offer is only valid from August 1st to August 31st. If you don’t avail of the plan by August 31st, you’ll miss out on this opportunity.
Interested customers can visit their nearest BSNL customer service center or retailer to take advantage of this offer. The offer was launched before Independence Day and will run throughout August. Currently, Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have not presented any similar offers, but these major private players may soon introduce similar offers for customers.
According to TRAI data, as of June 30, 2025, BSNL lost 305,766 wireless subscribers, bringing its total user base to 90,464,244, including 29,822,407 rural customers.
