Caller ID Enhancement to Include Subscriber Name Under Government Rule

The upcoming CNAP rollout will embed the caller’s name as part of the Calling Line Identification (CLI) data shown on mobile screens. If the incoming number is already stored in the user’s contacts, the saved name will appear; otherwise, the operator’s subscriber database will supply the name for domestic calls. International calls will continue to be marked only as “International Call.” Telecom operators must adopt a security‑by‑design approach, ensuring that name queries are not retained after a call ends and that network infrastructure can handle the additional processing without degrading service quality.
