Centre, Madhya Pradesh sign MoU for world‑class telecom park in Gwalior

In a landmark move to position India as a global telecom equipment hub, the Union Ministry of Communications and the Madhya Pradesh government have inked a memorandum of understanding for a world‑class Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior. Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Sindhu highlighted the project as a concrete step toward the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India and Digital India.

The zone, spread across 350 acres, will adopt a plug‑and‑play framework that allows firms to set up production lines with minimal delay. A ₹500 crore grant from the central government will fully fund the core infrastructure, covering utilities, roadways and high‑speed connectivity.

The park will integrate research, design, prototyping, testing and mass production of devices ranging from mobile handsets to 5G/6G network gear and fiber‑optic solutions. Expected private sector inflows of about ₹3,500 crore are projected to create more than 14,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Prominent manufacturers including Dixon Technologies, HFC Ltd and Tejas Networks have pledged participation. The project’s execution and long‑term management will be entrusted to an SPV owned 51% by the state and 49% by the central telecom department, providing a robust institutional framework.
