Companies Push AI Integration, Yet Trust and Governance Gaps Remain

New Delhi, July 7 – A report published this week shows that while more than half of Indian firms have embedded artificial intelligence into their primary business processes, confidence in the technology’s governance and reliability remains fragile.

Only 25% of surveyed companies say their staff are sufficiently prepared to exploit AI tools, a 12‑point dip from the 2025 baseline. Meanwhile, 56% report widespread AI deployment, and 36% claim full integration across the organization.

Eighty‑one percent of business leaders express concern that AI development is outstripping employee capabilities, governance frameworks, and operating models. Moreover, 84% expect autonomous AI agents to influence major commercial decisions in the next twelve months, yet just 28% fully trust such agents to function without human oversight.

To address the talent gap, 69% of organisations have begun reshaping roles to incorporate AI, and 33% have set aside dedicated budgets for skill‑development initiatives. However, the speed of organizational change still lags behind the rapid evolution of AI governance, trust, and monitoring mechanisms.

The report underscores that AI success does not depend solely on technology adoption but also on how companies redesign work practices, invest in employee upskilling, and implement robust governance to ensure accountable and reliable AI deployment.
