Delhi Airport Steps In as SpiceJet Dubai Flights Face 24‑Hour Delays

When SpiceJet’s two Delhi‑Dubai services were delayed for more than 24 hours on Monday, airport authorities at Indira Gandhi International moved quickly to support stranded travellers. The early flight SG 5111, meant to leave at 07:45, was announced delayed several times before being cancelled on tracking sites, while the evening flight SG 5105 was postponed to the following afternoon.

Passengers complained of a lack of official updates, prompting many to gather on the terminal floor and request information from airline staff. In response, airport officials distributed meals, drinks, and basic comforts, while coordinating with SpiceJet to secure alternate flight options.

SpiceJet cited an operational snag involving a grounded aircraft as the root cause. The carrier issued an apology, confirmed that re‑booking arrangements were underway, and promised better communication moving forward.

This incident adds to a recent wave of flight irregularities in India, including a Lucknow diversion of an Air India aircraft due to poor visibility and a technical fault that forced a Bhopal‑Delhi flight to land in Jaipur on September 13.
