The labour market appears steady, with the unemployment rate for those aged 15 and above slipping from 5.1 percent in July to 5.0 percent in August. Participation rose marginally to 55.6 percent from 55.4 percent. Inflation concerns have eased; 55 percent of economists now expect moderate price pressures, while 45 percent still warn of high inflation. Consumer price index data showed a 4.8 percent rise in August, slightly above the Reserve Bank of India’s 4 percent medium‑term target but within the acceptable 2‑6 percent band. Monetary policy is expected to stay unchanged for the next year, with 67 percent of experts seeing no major shift.
