G20 Energy Ministers Converge in USA; India Highlights Renewable and Critical Minerals Strategy

From September 14‑16, 2026, senior energy officials from the G20 will meet in Houston, United States. Union Minister Manohar Lal will lead the Indian delegation, focusing on four priority areas: global energy security, affordable power, regulatory efficiency, and the development of critical mineral supply chains.

The agenda will examine ways to improve the affordability of baseload electricity while simultaneously accelerating the deployment of renewable infrastructure. A dedicated session on permitting will discuss best practices for cutting red‑tape and enhancing regulatory predictability.

India will use the forum to stress its commitment to a diversified and circular critical‑minerals ecosystem, reducing dependence on single sources and fostering domestic processing capabilities. The minister will also share India's experience in aligning policy incentives with clean‑energy goals.

The participation reaffirms India's resolve to engage constructively with international partners, promoting technology‑neutral solutions that respect varied national contexts while ensuring a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future.
