Gaganyaan Uncrewed Test Flights Planned for 2026 and 2027

The roadmap outlined by the minister targets the launch of the first uncrewed experimental mission in the fourth quarter of 2026. This flight will carry ‘Vyommitra’, a semi‑human robotic test article, to validate new technologies created under the Gaganyaan programme. Two additional uncrewed missions, mirroring the configuration of a future crewed flight, are slated for 2027. Successful completion of these tests will pave the way for India’s inaugural crewed orbital mission.
