Gems, Textiles, Engineering and Food Sectors to Benefit from India‑UK CET

According to the World Trade Center Mumbai's chairman, the newly enforced India‑UK Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will be a catalyst for growth in several high‑value sectors. The agreement grants near‑complete tariff exemption—about 99.5% of export value—for products such as gemstones, jewellery, textiles, engineering equipment, agricultural output and food‑processing goods.

Kalantri explained that the technical coverage reaches 98.5% of individual products, translating to 99.5% when measured by total export value. This favorable environment is expected to stimulate investment, boost production capacity and create new jobs within these industries.

In addition to tangible goods, the pact also contains provisions that support service‑based professionals, allowing Indian yoga trainers, chefs and other experts easier entry into the UK labour market through simplified visa procedures.
