Global Chip Leaders Gather in Delhi for Semicon India 2026 Exhibition

New Delhi, September 17 — Semicon India 2026 will open its doors at Yashobhoomi on Thursday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiating the ceremony. The three‑day expo, organized by the India Semiconductor Mission, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing International association, is expected to attract leaders from the worldwide chip industry, policy circles, venture capital, academia and start‑ups.

Spanning 15,000 square metres, the exhibition will host over 600 participants, including roughly 300 international companies. More than 150 speakers are slated to discuss critical topics ranging from cutting‑edge chip design and advanced packaging to supply‑chain resilience and AI‑driven manufacturing.

The event will feature pavilions from six foreign nations and twelve Indian states, as well as dedicated zones for start‑ups, research, student initiatives, workforce upskilling and women in technology. Approximately 40 start‑ups will present their solutions, while a workforce development pavilion will shine a spotlight on micro‑electronics talent pipelines, skill enhancement and career opportunities.

A signature attraction is the “From Sand to Silicon to System” value‑chain experience, delivering a comprehensive view of the semiconductor ecosystem—from raw material processing to final system integration. The programme also includes a start‑up pitch competition, a student hackathon and live innovation showcases, creating opportunities for emerging innovators to display their technologies.

Keynote speeches, panel debates and strategic workshops will cover semiconductor manufacturing, AI, supply‑chain robustness, advanced packaging, materials, chip design, R&D, start‑ups, innovation and talent development.

Prior to the launch, Prime Minister Modi convened a round‑table with top CEOs, urging deeper engagement in India’s next phase of semiconductor growth. He underscored the importance of government‑industry collaboration, pointing to India’s robust talent pool, rapid technology adoption and expanding infrastructure, and called for heightened industry participation in skill development, innovation and emerging domains such as AI and quantum computing.
