Google has launched a new feature within its Gemini AI platform, allowing users to share their custom “Gems” (AI assistants) with others. This feature operates similarly to Google Drive, enabling easy sharing of custom AI assistants with friends, family, or colleagues. The following details explain the feature and how to utilize it.
With this update, users can share their custom “Gems.” According to Google’s blog, the process mirrors Google Drive, where users can select the “Share” option from the Gem manager.
This feature also gives users control over who can view, use, and edit their Gem. This allows multiple individuals to work on a shared “Gem” instead of each person doing similar tasks individually.
Google states that this new feature simplifies collaboration. For instance, instead of each team member designing separate assistants, a team can work from a shared “Gem.” Moreover, families can plan vacations, or individuals can seek assistance with writing tasks from a common source. This feature is especially beneficial when there’s a need to repeatedly perform a specific task.
To create a Gem:
Go to the Google Gemini website and sign in with your Google account.
Go to the “Gem manager” option and click on the “Create New Gem” option.
Then, provide a name for your custom AI “Gem” and provide a set of instructions.
Once your Gem is ready, click “Save.”
You can then view how the Gem responds to the prompts you provide.
Gemini AI, initially introduced as “Gemini Advanced” last year, offered several pre-built “Gems” such as brainstorming partners, career advisors, writing editors, and coding assistants. Initially exclusive to Gemini Advanced subscribers, it has now been opened to all users. Google made it accessible to all users in March, including the ability to upload files, aiding in personalization. The recent viral banana trend is also a feature of Gemini AI.
