HAL and United Aircraft Corporation move closer to SJ‑100 localisation

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation have signed a preliminary agreement to produce the Superjet‑100 (SJ‑100) under licence in India. Sources say the localisation talks are now in their final phase, with plans to set up assembly lines and supply chains within the country.

The move is intended to create a domestic hub for midsize regional jets, reducing reliance on imports and supporting India’s broader Make‑in‑India aerospace agenda.
