HDFC Bank Secures RBI Clearance for Rajiv Kumar’s Three‑Year Tenure

The Reserve Bank of India has officially approved the appointment of Rajiv Kumar as the part‑time chairman of HDFC Bank, the board confirmed in an exchange filing. Kumar’s three‑year tenure starts on 15 July 2026.

The approval aligns with Section 10B(1A)(i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, and follows the bank’s application and its earlier disclosure dated 29 June.

“HDFC Bank acknowledges the RBI’s consent to appoint Rajiv Kumar as part‑time chairman for a three‑year period commencing 15 July,” the filing read.

The bank also thanked interim chairman Keiki Mistry for his valuable contributions and noted that Mistry will continue to serve as a non‑executive, non‑independent director on the board.
