IFFI Goa 2026: New Platform for Media Tech Startups Unveiled

The central government has extended an open invitation for startups to apply for a dedicated exhibition slot at the IFFI Goa 2026 festival. The WaveX Startup Pavilion will serve as a centralized hub for companies developing solutions for the film and digital media industries.

By participating, businesses will be able to present their latest innovations, software, and hardware to a curated audience of filmmakers, studio heads, and global investors. The pavilion explicitly aims to accelerate commercial growth and strategic alliances for early-stage and scaling ventures.

Networking remains a core component of the event. Startups will have structured opportunities to connect with decision-makers from the worldwide entertainment sector, potentially unlocking funding deals and distribution partnerships.

Application eligibility is restricted to DPIIT-recognized enterprises with a confirmed operational focus on cinema and allied technological fields. A dedicated WaveX evaluation panel will review all entries, ensuring only the most qualified innovations secure pavilion space.

Authorities are encouraging all eligible developers to apply before the deadline. The initiative offers an unmatched opportunity to benchmark Indian creative technology against international standards on a renowned global stage.

Hosting the pavilion at IFFI Goa, a festival founded in 1952, aligns perfectly with the event’s historic mission. IFFI remains a premier Asian cinematic showcase, celebrated annually in Goa for promoting cultural dialogue, artistic collaboration, and cross-border film partnerships.

The WaveX program functions as a specialized accelerator and incubation framework for the creative economy. Its mandate is to nurture entrepreneurial talent and accelerate the commercialization of media-related technologies.

Priority support is extended to the AVGC and XR ecosystems. Startups building tools and content for animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, and extended reality are at the forefront of the WaveX support network.

Officials note that high-visibility national events are critical for establishing India’s global footprint in immersive media production.

Complementing these exhibition efforts, the 2026-27 Union Budget has committed ₹250 crore to educational infrastructure. The funding will equip 15,000 secondary schools and 500 universities with dedicated AVGC content creation laboratories, fostering grassroots technological literacy.
