Recent reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicate Apple is planning to introduce a bumper case alongside the iPhone 17 Air. This accessory strategy aligns with Apple’s history of offering specific cases for its devices. The iPhone 17 Air, designed with a focus on thinness, may be bundled with a bumper case to protect its edges while maintaining its sleek profile. Apple previously launched a similar bumper case for the iPhone 4 in 2010. This new case is expected to protect the device’s edges without covering the back. The aim is to provide protection without compromising the phone’s slim design, appealing to users who prioritize aesthetics. In 2010, Apple provided free bumper cases for the iPhone 4 due to the ‘Antennagate’ issue. Furthermore, leaks suggest the possibility of an iPhone 17 battery case, which could address concerns about the phone’s expected smaller battery capacity. Apple last released a battery case for the iPhone 11 lineup and the now-discontinued MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 models and later.
