Reliance Jio, led by Mukesh Ambani, has once again outpaced Airtel and Vodafone Idea in terms of new subscriber additions. According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added significantly more wireless subscribers in June compared to Bharti Airtel. Conversely, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) continued to experience a decline in their subscriber numbers. In June, Reliance Jio added 1.9 million net wireless subscribers, whereas Airtel added only 763,482 new subscribers. During the same period, Vi lost 217,816 subscribers, and BSNL lost 305,766 subscribers. The overall wireless subscriber base in the country grew by 2 million in June, reaching a total of 1163 million. However, the rural wireless user base decreased by 0.51 million, while the urban user base increased by 2.97 million. Jio’s wireless user base exceeded 477 million, Airtel’s surpassed 391 million, and Vi’s reached over 204.2 million in June. BSNL’s wireless user base stood at 90.5 million.
