Microsoft is preparing to introduce a suite of new AI features for Windows 11 users, leveraging its AI library. These updates include the Copilot Vision tool, which can analyze content displayed on the user’s screen. This eliminates the need for separate photo and email processes for documents like bills.
These features will be rolled out gradually to all users. Some features are exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs. Copilot Vision will be accessible through the Copilot app, enabling users to query the AI about the content on their screen, across multiple applications and web pages. Users will also be able to utilize Copilot for PC tasks like enhancing the lighting in images.
Microsoft’s consumer AI report revealed that approximately 60% of individuals reported using generative AI for work and business purposes within the past year. Furthermore, about 64% of people use AI for personal interests such as art, music, and DIY projects. Microsoft aims to integrate AI into daily life, making existing PC tasks easier. Users with Snapdragon-powered Copilot Plus PCs can access the AI agent through the Settings app.
Another notable feature is the AI-powered “Click to Do” preview, useful for Copilot Plus PCs. This feature is activated by holding the Windows key and left-clicking on an application, website, or text to perform actions such as summarizing paragraphs and improving reading fluency. Additional upcoming features include a new AI-powered sticker generator in Paint, an object select tool for editing image portions, an AI lighting option in Photos, and a precise screenshot tool using AI. The release of these features is scheduled for August, alongside non-AI features like a color picker for the Snipping Tool and a mechanism to automatically fix issues that cause unexpected restarts.
