Microsoft is introducing a suite of new AI-powered features for Windows 11 users, accessible through Copilot. These features include Copilot Vision, which allows users to scan and analyze content on their screen, eliminating the need to take separate photos of documents or bills. The rollout will be gradual, with some features exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs. Copilot Vision can answer questions about what’s visible on-screen across multiple apps and webpages, and it can also perform tasks like enhancing the lighting in photos. A recent consumer AI report commissioned by Microsoft reveals that approximately 60% of people are using generative AI for work and business purposes, and 64% are using it for hobbies and personal interests. Windows aims to integrate these AI experiences to make everyday PC tasks easier. Snapdragon-powered Copilot Plus PC users can access the AI agent through the Settings app.
Another key feature, the “Click to Do” preview, is available for Copilot Plus PCs. This feature allows users to perform actions like summarizing paragraphs and enhancing reading fluency by holding the Windows key and left-clicking on text, apps, or websites. Additional features include an AI-powered sticker generator in Paint, an object select tool for image editing, a new AI lighting option in Photos, and a tool for precise screen capture. These features will begin rolling out in August, alongside non-AI updates like a color picker in the Snipping Tool and a mechanism to automatically fix issues causing unexpected restarts.
