Microsoft has launched Copilot Mode in its Edge browser, introducing a new feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This feature aims to make browsing easier, faster, and smarter. Copilot Mode transforms your searches and browsing into topic-based queries, offering a more streamlined and efficient experience.
Copilot Mode consolidates information from all open tabs, providing comparison options without the need to switch between them. The browser will also respond to voice commands, allowing users to navigate without typing. Copilot accesses browsing history, passwords, and user data only with explicit permission. Visual notifications alert users when Copilot is active.
This mode offers integrated search, chat, and browsing options on a single page, along with the ability to compare all open tabs. It also supports voice navigation, smart recommendations, and automated tasks like booking. Copilot Mode is currently available for free to Windows and Mac users, though this is a limited-time offer. Users can disable the feature through the Edge browser settings.
Microsoft’s move comes amidst a wave of tech companies launching AI-supported browsers and search tools. Perplexity AI has launched Comet Browser with support from Nvidia, and OpenAI is preparing to release its own AI browser. Google has also initiated its AI Mode.
