OpenAI, a prominent name in the artificial intelligence landscape, is set to establish its presence in India. The company has officially announced its plans to open its first office in India and build a team. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, is scheduled to visit India next month, marking his second visit within a year, indicating the company’s focus on the Indian market.
Currently, OpenAI has listed three job vacancies on its career website for India. These positions are all for Account Director roles within the sales department.

* Account Director, Strategics
* Account Director, Large Enterprise
These roles involve educating customers on the impact of AI models on their businesses and users, working with researchers, engineers, and strategists, and managing the sales cycle from pipeline generation to closure. Candidates applying for these jobs will need a technical understanding alongside a business vision and value-driven strategy.

India has become the second-largest market for ChatGPT, following the United States. OpenAI launched the ChatGPT Go Plan for Indian users, priced at ₹399, which provides access to the GPT-5 model. This plan is significantly cheaper than the global Plus Plan at $20 monthly (approximately ₹1,752) and the Pro Plan at $200 monthly (approximately ₹17,530).
