A technical malfunction within the Passport Seva Portal on Thursday brought passport services across India to a standstill. Applicants arriving at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) found the systems non-functional, leading to significant delays and frustration. The outage persisted into Friday, leaving many passport seekers, including those with urgent travel plans, in a difficult situation. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints from users, who cited a lack of communication from authorities and the inability to reschedule appointments promptly. Numerous users reported receiving cancellation notifications late at night, while others encountered locked gates and a complete absence of on-site assistance. Families and business travelers reported being particularly affected, with some expressing concerns about disrupted travel plans and visa applications. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Passport Seva officials remained silent throughout the ordeal, exacerbating the issues faced by individuals dealing with missed appointments and uncertain schedules. This incident marks the second major disruption to the portal’s services in recent months, with a previous outage in April also causing appointment backlogs and travel-related anxieties.
