Petrochemical duty waiver renewed amid improving supply conditions

New Delhi, 30 June – The centre has extended the customs duty waiver on important petrochemical products for an additional fifteen days, now valid until 15 July 2026. The extension applies to the same catalog of items previously announced.

The waiver was initially rolled out as a temporary measure to counteract the impact of disrupted global supply chains caused by the West Asian confrontation. As the logistics environment normalises, the exemption remains crucial for sectors that depend on imported feedstock, ensuring they can transition without abrupt cost increases.

The Ministry highlighted that stable input prices will help manufacturers keep finished‑goods prices competitive, benefitting end‑consumers across industries such as plastic production, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and auto components.
