Pilot green hydrogen project aligns with India’s national mission, says Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki India’s new green hydrogen electrolyser marks a concrete step toward the goals set under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The 300 kW unit will operate alongside the plant’s existing solar power infrastructure, converting excess renewable electricity into clean hydrogen. The produced hydrogen will serve as a low‑carbon fuel for on‑site manufacturing processes, supplementing natural gas and reducing overall greenhouse‑gas emissions. By storing the gas in insulated tanks, the factory can draw on it during off‑peak solar periods, ensuring a reliable energy supply while cutting the carbon intensity of its operations. Company leadership says the pilot will generate valuable data that can be rolled out to other facilities in Haryana and Gujarat, accelerating the adoption of green hydrogen across the Indian automotive sector.
