At the Semicon India 2026 conference held in New Delhi, senior executives from leading semiconductor firms praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear vision for the sector. The gathering underscored India’s accelerating role in the global chip supply chain.

An ASML senior officer explained that the Prime Minister’s attendance sends a decisive message: when the highest authority backs an industry, it garners worldwide focus and confidence. He affirmed that India’s roadmap aims to transform the country into a semiconductor powerhouse.

Peter Choo of Yamaha Robotics stressed that India’s abundant youth talent is a unique asset. He advocated for curricula that blend theory with hands‑on training, allowing students to master modern semiconductor tools and processes.

Erik Odar of Business Sweden highlighted that the recent India‑Sweden strategic pact elevates semiconductors as a priority sector. The two nations have pledged to align India’s ambitious goals with Sweden’s engineering expertise.

Joakim Tolstoy, co‑founder of Swedish chip maker Texic, noted the long‑standing commercial links between the two countries and expressed optimism that Swedish companies are eager to expand their presence in India’s growing chip market.

Gerard F. Hamilton from Patina Lighting lauded India’s inventive capacity and technical proficiency, suggesting that the nation is poised to become a cornerstone of the global technology ecosystem.

Gilroy Matthew, UST’s chief operating officer, encouraged students to pursue big aspirations, citing the unprecedented investment in India’s semiconductor landscape and the role of AI in propelling chip innovation. He praised the recent announcements made by the Prime Minister as a catalyst for future growth.
