PM Setu Programme to Expand to 200 ITI Clusters Across India

The Prime Minister Skilling and Employment Transformation through Upgraded ITI (PM‑Setu) initiative will now be implemented in 200 identified ITI clusters spread across the nation. The expansion was approved during the fourth meeting of the scheme’s National Steering Committee, which was overseen by the Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Under the broadened rollout, each state and Union territory can adopt the programme according to its industrial readiness and execution capability. The plan emphasizes streamlined procedures, heightened industry participation, greater involvement of public sector undertakings and a reinforced institutional framework to monitor progress.

The rollout aligns with the central government’s broader vision of modernising the country’s vocational training ecosystem, introducing cutting‑edge infrastructure, and designing curricula that anticipate future skill demands. By fostering stronger industry‑institution linkages, the programme seeks to generate quality employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

PM‑Setu is a cornerstone of the government's skill development agenda, aimed at creating a robust, future‑ready ITI network that can respond swiftly to the evolving needs of the Indian economy.
