Private Indian Rocket Vikram‑1 Lifts Off from Sriharikota, Inspiring Students Nationwide

Sriharikota witnessed a historic moment on July 18 when Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram‑1 rocket successfully launched into orbit. The privately funded mission, called Mission Aagman, is the first instance where an Indian company has fully designed, manufactured and launched an orbital‑class vehicle from Indian territory.

The launch attracted a diverse crowd, including a student who said witnessing the event filled the nation with pride. Avesh Patel, who traveled from Hyderabad, voiced confidence that such achievements will pave the way for more private ventures and contribute to the “Developed India 2047” vision.

Nisha Kumar, a flight‑systems engineer, described the event as a “proud moment for every aerospace professional.” She highlighted that the launch was deliberately made visible to the public, especially school children, to nurture future talent.
