Rajvasna Rubber Dam Construction Near Heron River Near Completion

Construction of the Rajvasna Rubber Dam in Small Udiyapur is progressing rapidly, with roughly 75 percent of the work already finished. The project, estimated at INR 82.97 crore, incorporates a 180‑metre long, 3.5‑metre high air‑filled rubber bladder that can be raised to hold up to 3.5 million cubic metres of water.

The inflatable system is expected to resolve long‑standing silt accumulation problems within the existing weir by allowing the bladder to be deflated and the sediment to be cleared. During heavy rains, the bladder can be depressurized to release surplus water, thereby mitigating flood threats for nearby settlements.

A comprehensive flood‑security wall—900 metres on the left bank and 500 metres on the right bank—will be erected alongside the dam. The government also plans to link the weir’s canal network to ponds in 25 beneficiary villages, ensuring reliable water supply for both kharif and rabi seasons. The target completion date is set for September 2027.
