Speculation is mounting that Samsung will soon begin manufacturing foldable screens for a new Apple device. Recent reports suggest that Apple is planning to release a foldable device, prompting the need for a screen supplier. Lee Cheong, president of Samsung Display, has confirmed the mass production of OLED panels for foldable phones. While the specific company name was not disclosed, it is widely believed to be Apple. The rumored iPhone Fold is expected to feature a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch folding screen, along with a side-mounted touch ID sensor. Initial rumors point towards a potential launch date in September 2026, coinciding with the iPhone 18 lineup, though this timeline remains subject to change. Industry analyst Mark Gurman indicates Apple’s first foldable device will be exceptionally thin and incorporate advanced folding technology, with Foxconn in China involved in its production. The forthcoming foldable device will enter a market already populated by competitors such as the Galaxy Z series.
