Skilled Professionals to Gain Easier Access to New Zealand Market under FTA

The agreement includes a special provision for Indian talent. Each year, 5,000 temporary‑employment entry visas will be issued for skilled professionals, while 1,000 working‑holiday visas are set aside for young Indians. Student mobility is also liberalised – there is no cap on the number of Indian students who can study in New Zealand, and STEM graduates will be allowed to work for up to three years after completing their degrees. Doctoral researchers can stay for four years, creating a pipeline of highly qualified talent between the two economies.
