S&P Global Recognizes AESL as World’s Highest‑Scoring Utility

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has been identified by S&P Global as the utility company with the top ESG score worldwide. Following the completion of S&P’s Media and Stakeholder Analysis, the firm’s governance rating was revised upward, eliminating earlier negative impacts.

The revised assessment awarded AESL a 90‑point ESG score out of a possible 100, catapulting it to the premier position in the global utilities arena, where the average score sits at 41. Prior to the review, AESL’s ESG rating stood at 81, and its Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score increased by 17 points to also reach 90.

CEO Kandar Patel highlighted the recognition as a “moment of pride” and a clear endorsement of the company’s sustainable development agenda. He emphasized that sustainability is integrated into all business decisions, driving continual enhancements in environmental outcomes, social impact, governance practices and disclosure transparency.

AESL posted strong figures across the ESG spectrum: 93 for environment, 89 for social and 84 for governance. The firm credits product management excellence, a forward‑looking climate strategy and effective human‑capital management for these results.

Operating the nation’s largest private transmission network—spanning 29,739 km with a transformation capacity of 143,425 MVA—AESL serves around 13 million electricity consumers in the Mumbai metro region and the Mundra Special Economic Zone. The company is also accelerating its smart‑meter deployment, aiming to become India’s leading smart‑meter integrator.
